Here it is...another baseball blog.
I am sure that you may have stumbled upon this by complete accident. That being said, welcome to "Bus League Nerd", a baseball blog that focuses on fusing prospect scouting and minor league baseball analysis with sabermetrics. I know I am not the first person that will have a minor league baseball blog that focuses more on the numbers than "in person" scouting, but I wanted to have a focus on minor league baseball that was more analytical than the typical "This guy is a 70-grade prospect" stuff. Nothing against those kinds of blogs, but I tend to favor the analytical part of the game when it comes to baseball, and I want to transition that kind of thinking when writing about the minor leagues.
I also don't want this blog to be solely about "prospecting." I think it's easy to get into the habit of just focusing on which prospects will be breaking into the Majors and which ones will be future All-Stars and possible Hall-of-Famers. That being said, I also think minor league baseball needs to be celebrated in all forms: whether it's teams, the top prospects, the career bus leaguers, the quirkiness, etc. Minor league baseball is a unique breed, and I want to be able to not just cover the prospects, but also look at the minor leagues in all forms from the Pacific Coast League and International League of Triple-A to the short-season Rookie Leagues and everything in between. I want readers to learn about minor league baseball a bit through this blog, and I want to learn more as well as I do more research and write posts on this blog.
So, again, welcome to the wacky, zany, highly analytical world of "Bus League Nerd." A place that will cover the impact of Vlad Guerrero Jr. to how the San Jose Giants will do in the California League. Hopefully, it will be akin to the minor league baseball experience: small-time perhaps, but authentic and unique and most importantly, entertaining.
