"Bus League Nerd" was started in April of 2019. After pondering what to write about when it came to baseball, the author was a bit dissatisfied from what he saw on the internet when it came to blogging regarding Minor League Baseball and Sabermetric analysis. While he did find some great team prospect sites, and Fangraphs' resource, The Board, he wanted something out there that not just focused on prospects and Minor League Baseball as a whole, but also did it with a more advanced statistical slant, similar to what he saw from John Sickels' Minor League Ball before it went defunct.
"Bus League Nerd" will try to combine statistical analysis of prospects and the Minor Leagues with writing that also incorporates the author's own opinion and perspective of the game of baseball. Sometimes it will be deep, with heavy usage of data. Sometimes it will be pretty whimsical and tongue-in-cheek. Either way, he hopes to transition his passion for the game of baseball and the Minor Leagues through his posts on this blog.
This blog is run by an amateur blogger who has run many different blogs over the past decade. His most substantial work was a San Francisco Giants blog called "Remember '51" and an SF Giants Prospect Blog called "Optioned to Fresno" (the Fresno Grizzlies were the Giants' Triple-A affiliate before they moved to Sacramento). He has also written on the Euroleague and Kansas City Royals for brief spurts of time. The author grew up in Northern California (Sacramento to be specific) and is a lifelong Giants fan, though he does appreciate and has grown to like the Kansas City Royals, where he is currently situated. When he is not watching, following or writing about baseball, he works as a high school business teacher and coach in the Kansas City metro, coaching cross country, and basketball.
